Valonda believes confidence can be learned—and when it is, everything changes.
Valonda Calloway, The TV Lady®, is a celebrated media and presentation coach, TV host, emcee, spokesperson, and voice-over artist whose career spans television news, lifestyle programming, live events, and brand representation.
A native of Richlands, North Carolina, and a cum laude graduate of Winston-Salem State University, Valonda launched her career in Washington, D.C., as a writer and reporter for Voice of America radio before returning home to North Carolina to work as a news reporter and anchor for WNCT-TV and later WRAL-TV in Raleigh. She went on to host the lifestyle show My Carolina Today, interviewing a wide range of entertainers and public figures and connecting with audiences through engaging, authentic storytelling.
After years inside television studios and newsrooms, Valonda saw firsthand how quickly credibility is judged—and how many talented people and brands struggle simply because they don’t know how they’re coming across. That insight led her to expand her work beyond the camera and into media and presentation coaching, where she now helps leaders, elected officials, municipal teams, and professionals prepare for high-visibility moments, from TV news interviews to public presentations and industry leadership roles.
Today, Valonda works primarily with organizations and groups, offering media training, presentation coaching, workshops, masterclasses, and high-touch experiences designed to help people show up prepared, polished, and powerful—without losing authenticity.
In addition to her coaching work, Valonda remains highly active on camera. She is a professional spokesperson for five North Carolina car dealerships, appears as a freelance TV host on WRAL and FOX 50 in paid broadcast segments, and regularly joins television stations across the country as a lifestyle expert, representing national brands including Febreze, Burlington, and Rogaine. She has also worked as an actor in national commercials and corporate videos for brands such as IBM, Microsoft, and a national life insurance company.
As a voice-over artist, Valonda records from her broadcast-quality home studio or on-site at client studios, earning repeat business for her professionalism, efficiency, and standout delivery.
Beyond media, Valonda’s background as a dancer and former NFL cheerleader continues to shape her work. She teaches beginner jazz at North Carolina Dance Institute and brings an embodied understanding of presence, movement, and confidence to everything she does. Her accomplishments have been recognized with induction into the WSSU C. E. Gaines Hall of Fame and being named a Woman to Know in North Carolina.
Grounded in her belief that “to whom much is given, much is required,” Valonda is committed to service, mentorship, and community impact. She is married, the mother of one daughter, and remains passionate about helping others step fully into the light.
